"Steve and Sharon Bussey are the co-directors of Railton School for Youth Worker Training in the USA Eastern Territory. They began in Salvation Army youth work when they were fourteen years old when they ran an outpost Sunday School for at-risk youth in Johannesburg, South Africa. Sharon became the YP Sergeant at her Corps and continued to serve the Lord as she developed management skills in a large South African corportation. Steve studied theology and missiology in Canada during which he was the Youth Co-ordinator for MissionFest Toronto, worked for World Vision Canada and coordinated a national student prayer movement for college students across the country.
In 1996, Sharon and Steve married and served as Envoys in Cape Town, South Africa where they served as Divisional Youth Secretaries for the Western Cape Division and were the Corps Officers of Woodstock, Wynberg and Observatory Corps. In 1999, they relocated to New York to work as Youth Mission and Leadership specialists for the USA Eastern Territory. In 2001, they began work with Majors Larry and Janet Ashcraft at Project 1:17: School of Youth Ministry and Mission and then became codirectors in 2006. In 2007, Project 1:17 developed into a two-year training program called 'Railton School for Youth Worker Training.' Steve is currently completing a Masters degree at New York University where he is studying Youth Media and Culture. Sharon is currently completing her bachelors degree.
They have been involved in a variety of youth work roles for almost twenty years in Canada, South Africa and the United States. They are humbly blessed to be able to participate in God's mission to reclaim children and youth for Christ. They focus on this most with their two beautiful daughters, Skyela (10) and Summar (9) who daily teach them what it means to embrace Jesus Great Commandment."
